Joe Gerstler Songwriter

When my nieces and nephews were little, I loved making up songs to make them laugh and spark their imaginations. Tunes like Herman the Flea, Moon Beams, and It’s Raining Outside became childhood favorites in our family. To this day, they still remember those songs with fondness, and it warms my heart to know that something so simple brought them so much joy.
At 17, I bought a tape recorder with a microphone from Sears, and that’s when I truly started experimenting with sounds, melodies, and lyrics. I would record different noises, layer sounds, and create little musical pieces. It was always something I did in private—never sharing much of it with others. It was just for me, a creative outlet that I found both exciting and deeply personal.
Years later, I decided to take a leap and enter a national songwriting contest. I submitted my song Everyday Without Your Lovin’, and to my surprise, I received an honorable mention. It was a small recognition, but it meant a lot to me. Still, I kept my music mostly to myself, never fully pursuing it as a career or even sharing it widely. It remained a quiet passion, something I cherished but never prioritized.
Then life changed in a way I never expected. My parents became ill, and I took on the role of caregiver for an extended period. It was a challenging, emotionally draining time, but I knew they deserved my love, patience, and respect. Through God’s grace, I found the strength to be there for them, to care for them with everything I had. My music took a backseat, and for a long time, I didn’t write or create at all.
Now, as I look back, I realize that music never truly left me. It was just waiting for me to return. Today, I have 55 completed songs saved on my computer, another 20+ fully written on paper, and at least 30 unfinished ideas waiting to be developed. Music has always been a part of me, and I’m finally ready to embrace it again.
God blessed me with the gift of a vivid imagination and a natural ability to create playful, silly songs.
Mission Statement
Music has always been my passion—a way to capture emotions, tell stories, and connect with people on a deeper level. My mission is to place my songs with a music publisher and secure placements in film and TV through music licensing.
Each song I write comes from real experiences, emotions, and moments that inspire me. Whether it’s love, loss, hope, or the excitement of new beginnings, I strive to create music that resonates with listeners and enhances the stories told on screen. Music has the power to evoke feelings, set the mood, and make a scene unforgettable.
My goal is to see my songs find a home in films, TV shows, and other media where they can move audiences, create lasting impressions, and complement powerful storytelling. With dedication, creativity, and persistence, I’m ready to share my music and let it find its perfect place in the world.
